Landscape & Urban Gallery.
I enjoy landscape painting and particularly gritty urban scenes. What I enjoy most is how painting encourages you to always seek out beauty in whatever surrounds you. To quote Confucius, ‘Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it’.

A painting of a spectacular view I saw of the Liverpool waterfront walking home one October evening. There were heavy dark clouds overhead offset by a golden glow from the setting sun lighting up the waterfront buildings. This is painted in oil on cotton canvas, primarily using liquin as a medium particularly for the buildings where the level of detail required a relatively quicker drying time. Upper layers of the sky used traditional linseed oil to dry more slowly and allow more blending.

I saw this scene on the way to watch Tranmere Rovers on Boxing Day 2024, passing by the East Float, part of Birkenhead docks where there was an abandoned building and sunken boat peeking through the fog. The game was called off due to the foggy conditions.
